Principal's News

All students attending St Louis de Montfort's Aspendale have the right to feel safe. The care, safety and wellbeing of children and young people is a fundamental responsibility of all within our school.

Good afternoon families,

I hope you have had a good week, our week has been fantastic.

On Monday we were entertained by Year 6 ES in our whole school assembly.

Tuesday was our Olympic Day and it was a fun packed afternoon with plenty of medals being achieved. Thank you to Mrs Barron for organising the day and all the staff for their enthusiasm and sense of fun.

Tuesday also saw our Year 6 boys AFL team win the Kingston region competition. Thank you to our super coach Mr Andrew and the wonderful sportsmanship shown by all the boys. The team now will play in the State finals on Wednesday 21 August.

Wednesday our prep children celebrated 100 days at school. It was amazing to see so many 'grandparents' in our prep rooms. Thank you to the parents for all the effort you put into the children's costumes. Thank you to out prep teachers for all the hard work they put into arranging such a special day for the prep children.

Thursday we celebrated our parish's feast day and the feast day of Australia's first saint Mary of the Cross. Years 4-6 celebrated mass with the parishioners and Father Ignatius. Thank you to Mrs Douglas for preparing our readers.

Some of our Year 5 students went to St Patrick's Mentone and represented our school in a maths competition. Well done to students on a great performance. Thank you Mrs Barron and Lou for taking our students out for the day.

On Friday some of our Year 6 students went to Our Lady of the Pines Donvale and participated in Tech Olympics. It was a great day for all the students and Mr Wood. The students were able to flex their Tech muscle. Thank you Mr Wood for giving the students such a great opportunity.

Science Week

Next week National Science Week begins. The school theme for National Science Week in 2024 is Species Survival - More than just sustainability. The theme aims to highlight the importance of science and innovation in ensuring the survival and thriving of different species in an ever-changing world.

Italian Day

Next Thursday 15 August, we have our inaugural Italian day. The day will start with a whole school mass in the hall, followed by an Italian song, sung by our school choir.

The students can wear the colours of the Italian flag ( green, red and white) or dress as a famous Italian. All students will have a pizza lunch and following the lunch we have an Italian performing group come into the school to entertain our students.
