Year 5/6 Olympics

In Week 4 of Term 3, our Year 5/6 Learning Community held their own Olympics, embracing the Olympic spirit and celebrating the games!

Our Year 5/6 central building, Goulburn, was turned into a mini Olympic village, decorated with the Olympic rings and flags from participating countries, sports equipment and even a podium!

Special shoutout to our amazing VET Building students who built the podium in just a few weeks! Much appreciated and the students really enjoyed standing up on the podium for their wins of glory.

Our five classes were divided into ten countries and students embraced the country they were assigned, making decorations and researching various things about their country for the games.

Students experienced an opening ceremony, with each country walking around to their national anthem and celebrating being part of the games.

Students were then assigned to participate in six events across the week, including table tennis, basketball, long jump, shooting, a reaction time game and the main event of the Olympics, the 100m Sprint.

At the conclusion of the games, we held a closing ceremony, awarding medals to our top three students from each event, whilst also acknowledging those who demonstrated exceptional sportsmanship during the games.

We also had our final medal tally presentation, with China from 5/6D winning the count.

Well done to all our Year 5/6 students who were amazing all week and truly showed our three college values of respect, responsibility and community!

Thank you also to our 5/6 teachers, who sacrificed their teaching time to allow this incredible experience for our students, which they will remember for a long time!
