SCHOOL CLOSURE DAY
MONDAY 9th SEPTEMBER
Dear Parents and Guardians,
We hope the windy weather has not caused too much trouble for you. We are being very conscious of it and heeding the warnings, especially in regards to being on the Oval with the trees. We are very fortunate to have the tennis courts and courtyard as play time options when needed. They are both great spaces and we benefit from the fundraising of years passed, by the PA and Fete Committees with their raised funds paying for the resurfacing over recent years.
School Hats are on!
A reminder that school hats should be worn from September until the end of April. So it is, "No hat, no play!" as spring has come. We are using this week as a time to find our hats and remember to wear them. There is a reward of extra playtime for the class that is the first to have all students with their school hats on.
Monday 9th September - School Closure Day
Monday is a School Closure Day, we will take advantage of this to have some staff prepare for the Art Show, whilst teachers are working on curriculum for Term 4.
Art Show
Wednesday night is our Art Show Opening Night, 6pm - 8pm with speeches and raffles drawn at 7pm. Family tickets can still be purchased for $15, this helps to cover the extra costs associated with the Art Show.
The Class Pieces are on display in the foyer. To be in the draw to win one of these magniicent class pieces, Raffle Tickets are available to purchase at the office for $1. There is no limit to the number of tickets purchased. These are on sale before school, or at the office. An Art Show update note was sent home yesterday which included some tickets at the bottom.
MACSSIS Surveys
The MACSSIS Surveys are an annual survey by MACS for staff, students and parents. We use this data to form the basis of many of our plans and MACS uses the data to support COHR in areas requiring improvement.
Surveys have been sent out to all families via email yesterday (jcowan@cohroakeast.catholic.edu.au), thank you to the 10 parents who have completed the survey. If you have not already, please take some time to complete them, as we do value your input - it takes less than 15 minutes.
Save the Date: November 15th!
This newsletter has important information regarding the Fete. Quite simply we need everyone's help to make it a success!
At the present we are looking for donations to the Jar stall, the Big Wheel hampers and the White Elephant. It would be great every family could contribute to each one.
Further we still need leaders for three stalls - the Coffee Cart, the Souvlakis and the Side Show Games. There is no expectation that you would be on the stall for the whole fete, rather you would be the person who ensures that what is on the list for that stall has been provided to it. The Fete Committee is busy gathering most items and we have shout outs for some help for this too on the Fete page.
Congratulations
In past years many of our students have held key leadership positions in our local secondary schools and next year we will continue this tradition, with past student Sophie Brewer as Avila College Co-Captain for 2025. Congratulations Sophie, COHR is proud of you.
Condolences
Our condolences go out to the Grenfell Family on the passing of Fraser's Grandfather (Carolyn's Dad). You may like to remember them in your prayers.
See you on Wednesday at the Art Show Opening Night!
Regards,
Brian Martin (Lead Principal) &
Jo Cowan (Deputy Principal)
