PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

MRS MICHELLE HAEUSLER - PRINCIPAL

What a wonderful fortnight we have had in terms of celebrating our Catholic Identity.  Last week was JJAMM (Julian, Joseph and Mary MacKillop) week.  A week of celebrations dedicated to the Sisters of St Joseph and their founders, St Mary of the Cross MacKillop and Fr Julian Tenison Woods.  Thanks to Alison Wright, Director of Faith and Mission, and a number of other dedicated staff, for organising activities such as Py-JJAMMa Day, JJAMM Donuts, Badge making and our Feast Day Mass.  Well done to Jesse McDonald and Solomon House for planning out the annual Walkathon and fundraising for the Junior Diabetes Research Foundation.  Continuing the Mary MacKillop theme, yesterday Sr Rita Malavisi, a Sister of St Joseph, facilitated a day of learning for the staff centred on our school theme of Intentional Inclusivity.

Mary MacKillop and Julian Tenison Woods established Josephite schools to enable all children, but particularly the poor children, access to an education.  Following in the footsteps of Jesus, Mary and Julian reached out to the marginalised in areas across Australia and New Zealand.  The sessions for the staff provided an opportunity to reflect and share ideas about how we are Intentionally Inclusive in our school, and how do we work in a Catholic school with the charism of the Sisters of St Joseph and the example that Jesus showed us.

Our school production is only a week away.  I hope that you have purchased your tickets.

The warmer weather has been a welcome change this week.  The weather will continue to fluctuate as we move from Winter into Spring.  Our students are able to wear uniform items to suit the weather and I thank those parents that are ensuring their child/ren have the correct uniform for school each day. PE Uniform should only be worn all day by Year 7 to 9 students that have a practical core PE class.  All other students must be wearing the formal uniform to school and changing prior to their PE class.

Congratulations to local football, netball and soccer teams that have made it through to finals in the next few weeks.  May you meet the challenge with the right sporting spirit and be rewarded by your efforts.
