Author Visit

Uralla Central School was lucky enough to score a visit from the local Tamworth author Jacqueline Graham. She has just released her second series of 'Cottonwood Adventures'. This is a fabulous new series based on real life experiences on her farm, as readers follow the young girl Macy as she meets new friends and learns to bond with her new horse. Our students in Years 3-6 were able to speak with Jacqueline regarding her writing processes, being published and her writing career in general.

We had a delightful time, especially being able to discuss all things horses and ask Macy (the real-life person the character is based on) questions about the adventures. We all had a great time and would love to see Jacqueline and Macy visit us again.

Kindergarten

Kindergarten have been very busy over the past few weeks learning the letter sounds for s, a, m, t, i and p. We can now start to make lots of words using these sounds like map, sit, tap. During our literacy rotations we have been working on how to write a sentence and blending sounds together to make words. During reading we have learnt that our magic finger points to the words as we read them and if we don't know a word we blend the sounds together to help us work it out. In numeracy we have been focusing on numeral formation to make sure we are writing these correctly.

Just a reminder that if any students would like to order their lunch from the canteen, please write the order on a paper bag and include the money inside. This bag can then be placed in the canteen basket inside the kindergarten classroom.
