Principal's Report

Dear St A’s Community,

I  hope this newsletter finds you well and that you all enjoyed your Easter break together as a family!  We have started the term term quite smoothly, with lots of fun and learning happening!

Easter Parade

We started off the term with our Annual Easter Bonnet parade in our school hall.  It was a marvelous way to start the term!  The parade iteself was an exciting and a colorful affair, with each participant proudly walking around the hall proudly showing off their creations to their peers, teachers, and families. The Easter Bonnet Parade was a chance to express the students artistic skills, collaborate with friends and family members on creating their bonnets, and engage in the seasonal spirit of Easter.  Many thanks to our wonderful parents for supporting your children with their creations!  Congraulations to all the winners of the Easter Raffle prizes!

ANZAC Day Reflection

On the 24th of April, our school came together to honor and reflect on the brave men and women who have served in wars, with a special focus on the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps (ANZAC) during our ANZAC Day Reflection. ANZAC Day is a time to remember the sacrifices made by soldiers, particularly the ones who fought and lost their lives during the Gallipoli campaign in World War I, as well as those who have served in subsequent conflicts. As part of our reflection, students gathered for a special ceremony, which included a minute’s silence to honor the fallen. The sound of the "Last Post" echoed across the school, providing a moment of solemn reflection for both students and staff. This powerful tradition reminds us of the significance of the day and the courage shown by those who served. Throughout the week leading up to ANZAC Day, students learned about the history of the ANZACs and the values they embody—courage, mateship, and endurance. In classrooms, teachers shared stories of the soldiers’ bravery, helping students understand the sacrifices made by these individuals and the impact it had on our country’s history.

BEBRAS Maths Challenge

We are excited to announce that our school recently participated in the prestigious BEBRAS Maths Challenge, which is  a fun and engaging competition designed to test students' problem-solving skills and logical thinking. The BEBRAS Challenge is an international event aimed at fostering a love for computational thinking and mathematics among students of all ages. Students from Grade 3-6, took part in the online challenge, which presented them with a series of thought-provoking problems designed to challenge their reasoning and mathematical abilities. The questions were a mix of puzzles and brain teasers, encouraging students to think critically and creatively to find solutions.

The competition is not just about testing knowledge but also about developing the skills to approach problems in new and innovative ways. It promotes teamwork, perseverance, and resilience, as students worked through the problems individually or in small groups. It was amazing to see how students supported each other, shared strategies, and celebrated their successes. While the challenge is competitive, it’s also a wonderful opportunity for students to explore the exciting world of mathematics outside the traditional classroom environment. By participating in the BEBRAS Maths Challenge, students gained valuable experience that will enhance their problem-solving skills and prepare them for future academic challenges.

Prep 2026

Our cut off for new enrolments for Prep 2026 is the 21st of June.  This means I need to have all siblings enrolled before this date, so I can offer the places to others in our community. Any family that has a child beginning Prep for 2026 will need to submit their enrolment papers by May 22nd 2025.   Please get these in as soon as possible. If I haven't sent home the enrolment paperwork, please let me know and I will do so.  Thank you to our families that have already completed the process.
