How to Raise Boys (all children) Who Thrive
What You Can Do: Practical Steps for Parents
Monitor your kids’ online activities – Know what they’re watching and who they’re engaging with.
Talk to them regularly (and listen twice as much) – Open communication is key.
Minimise screen time and foster face-to-face relationships – Encourage real-world socialisation.
Spend more time together as a family – Connection builds resilience.
Make sure he gets enough sleep – Poor sleep impacts emotional regulation.
Know where your kids are – Awareness prevents risky situations.
Ensure they have access to great adults who care about them – Role models matter.
Tell them the three most important words they can hear – Not I love you, but no matter what. They need to know they’re worthy of your love—always.
We are seeing some behaviours and school based actions that directly reflect online content or television shows that are inappropriate for our primary school aged children. Productions such as Squid Games are negatively mpacting on our young people and we want everyone in our community to be actively encouraging positive viewing choices and connection their community.
Structured Lunch Clubs
The new implementation of ES run clubs at lunchtime offers a supportive space for students who find unstructured play a bit tricky during recess and lunch. These clubs provide a structured and inclusive environment where students can engage in calming activities, build friendships, and develop confidence. The clubs aim to help students feel more comfortable and connected, promoting both social and emotional well-being while encouraging healthy habits and teamwork. So far our students are loving these!
If you think this is something your child may like to be involved in, please encourage them to chat to Tilly to find out more.
