Law Society Mock Trial

On Tuesday 18 March, Mazenod sent two teams for the opening round of the Law Society of WA’s Mock Trial competition held at the Supreme Court building in the CBD.

Our Defence Team made up of Year 10 and Year 11 students were victorious through forfeit, which was not an ideal victory after their weeks of preparation.

Our Prosecution team was made up of;

Alexander T – Barrister 1

Lachlan L – Barrister 2

Spencer P – Solicitor

Matthew C – Court Orderly

Jaxon J – Witness

Zack H – Witness

The task of the Prosecution was to prove beyond reasonable doubt that the accused stole a cosmetic cream valued at $600.

Although a difficult case to prove, the boys gave the accused a few frights, tripping her up in her recollection of events. Alas, the accused was found not guilty.

As our students had a better handle on court procedure, they won the competition element of the trial and all are looking forward to their next round in May. Both teams enter Round 2 with a victory under their belts.

Many thanks to Mrs Tonon and Mr Pallot for their assistance in the successful start to the competition.

Both teams eager to enter the courtroom for Round 1 of the Mock Trial Competition:
