During the 1950s, Fr William Cagney OMI served as the parish priest in Lesmurdie. He strongly believed that a school should be built on the heights of the Darling Range to educate the children of his parish.ย

Determined to make this vision a reality, he played a crucial role in securing approval for the College and arranged the initial funding for its construction.

As part of this effort, a letter was sent to Mr Kenneth Dunn, MLA for Darling Range, confirming a Grant in Trust for Lot 126 - a 23-acre site in Lesmurdie. This was a significant step toward establishing the school.
