Year 12 Outdoor Education

Yallingup Snorkeling Expedition
The Year 12 Outdoor Education students recently embarked on an unforgettable expedition to Yallingup, where they developed their snorkeling skills and explored the stunning marine environment of Western Australia’s coastline.
On Day 1, students snorkeled at the Omeo Wreck. Although the visibility wasn’t great, the students were able to explore the wreck itself and discover the huge variety of marine life it houses. We then travelled to Yallingup before setting up camp and enjoying an evening of fishing, with several King George whiting successfully caught.
Day 2 saw the group snorkeling at both Yallingup Lagoon and the Aquarium. These diverse marine environments offered different types of snorkels for the group. The afternoon allowed the group the opportunity for a scenic hike around Cape Naturaliste, including a visit to the whale-watching platform. The day concluded with more fishing, with plenty of whiting reeled in.
On Day 3, the expedition wrapped up with a stop in Busselton to try our hand at squidding from the jetty before heading home.
This expedition challenged students to apply their outdoor skills while fostering teamwork and resilience. Well done to all involved!
