Science Spotlight

Year 3

We have been using our creative skills to design rovers to explore the Moon. They needed to include tyres that were suitable for travelling on the surface of the moon, blades that could cut through the surface of the moon and be battery operated too. Here are some pictures of our amazing designs.

Year 4

We have been looking at the bigger picture and how our land use and interactions with earth shape and change our ecosystems. We have also been thinking about how we could use collective action to make big changes!

Year 5

We have been working hard on their space probes to visit a planet in the solar system. We have seen some really interesting designs with real scientific purpose this week! Make sure you share what your space probe's aim is with someone at home!

My space probe is designed to take photos of planets.

The space probe is going as far away from earth as possible to know more about the universe.

The solar panels are to collect energy from a star.

It also has a telescope to zoom in to find any planets and take photos.

     Evan 5D

Scientific objective is to find underground water sources and get rock samples from Mars.

Features include scanner, rock filter place and rough wheels for bumpy terrain.

The collector is a space mission created by the Olive oil space industry to find more water on Mars. It has an antenna to send information to earth and has a camera to send photos to earth. It has an arm that can drill into Mars's surface and find water. It has a pocket to store the water it finds.

Our spacecraft is designed to collect diamonds on the Neptune. It has trays to carry the diamonds and also has rockets in case of asteroids.

Year 6

We have been finishing off our Natural disaster projects. Some really interesting and useful ideas have come out of this cohort. Make sure to talk about your inventions at home!

Science Fun Fact

Did you know that a flamingo can only eat when its head is upside down? Now that sounds rather uncomfortable!!
