Sports Gala Day

Cricket

Our cricketers had a wonderful first day of matches at last Friday’s Summer Gala Day 1. It was lovely to see our students all representing the school with great pride and sportsmanship as not only did they encourage and coach each other, but offered friendly advice to students from other schools throughout their games.

Our first game saw us play Moonee Ponds West PS. In what was a close fought game, MPWPS won by 26 runs. NMPS then won their next 3 games with results over St Margaret’s PS (143 v 82), St Mary’s PS (140 v 120) and Ascot Vale PS (97 v 36). All games were incredibly well played by our cricketers, where they showed excellent skill, teamwork, and endeavour. Keep up the amazing effort Sabine, Lakshmi, Tommy, Daniel, Wren, Teddy, Inaaya, Cooper and Paddy.

A big thank you to our parent helpers, Marisa, Stephen and Warwick, who assisted throughout the day with each of our teams.

Tennis

I hopped onto the bus, with excitement in my head. The atmosphere filled with loud mumbles, and then it became singing. The song WHEELS ON THE BUS lasted til halfway into the bus ride. I was so tired already. I looked outside the window and stared at there shops. When we arrived I saw what felt like 50 schools there, I even noticed friends from other school there too. I said bye to my friends doing other sports, and headed to Tennis. It looked extremely crowded. Me and Alegra were together and played our first round.

Shortly after eating our lunch we played another round. I realised their weakness was low shots. Again, we beat them 3 sets. The final round was super hard, we did score some points but they won 3 sets. We were disappointed but it was okay because they were so kind. Once everyone finished their matches, we rested a bit and played one last game, but only with our school.

Then we headed back to the main point where we first started at. We watched the other sports and waited from them to finish and then waited for the bus. We were the last school there.

I was happy that I was able to represent the school and go to the Gala day, and am excited to go to the next Gala day.
