Kitchen & Garden News

From Erin & Tess, Kitchen Garden Team

Congratulations Year 4!

A big round of applause for the Year 4’s for a delicious term in the kitchen. All classes have have worked towards gaining their Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program Knife Licence. This means they have learned, practiced and demonstrated the three safe knife skills ‘Rock and Chop’ , ‘The Bear Claw’ and ‘The Bridge’. To celebrate we hosted a Pizza Party and each student was presented with their knife licence.

Over the past 10 weeks each class and their cooking groups have demonstrated great team work skills including collaboration, problem solving and delegation to prepare and share a range of seasonal food. They have made a wide variety of dishes including breads, dips, salads, soups, curries, rice and noddles.

Well done Year 4, keep cooking and practicing those skills and we will see you back in the kitchen in 2026!

A big thank you to all our parent volunteers this term! We really appreciate your help in the kitchen and support of the SAKG program.

Next term we have Year 5’s in the kitchen so please get in touch with your child’s teacher at the beginning of Term 2 if would like to volunteer in the kitchen.
