Year 2 News

From Sally, Year 2 Teacher

And just like that we have reached the end of Term 1! What a busy term it has been.

The Harmony Day picnic was a fantastic opportunity for members of the school community to get together. In class, the Grade Twos discussed the significance of Harmony Day and what it means to them.  The children designed posters for the day which they proudly showcased a country or culture important to them.

JSRC representatives

In assembly this fortnight we announced our JSRC representatives for Grade 2. Considering many viable contenders, each class will also announce JSRC rep helpers to ensure we are sharing the load of responsibility across the cohort.

Below is a short introduction to both:

My name is... Reed

My favourite subject is... Maths

A fun fact about me is... I'm a good climber.

I am excited to be part of the JSRC because... It's exciting.

My name is... Edie

My favourite subject is... Art & Maths

A fun fact about me is... I can do a backbend.

I am excited to be part of the JSRC because... I can improve the school.

Literacy

We have been learning about and creating our very own information texts. We have gotten familiar with the features of a non-fiction text, including the heading, subheadings, labels, diagrams and captions. We have read about space and the solar system and have made posters which share the key information of an invented planet.

Numeracy

We have been exploring a range of pictograph and bar graphs. We have enjoyed collecting data and representing it appropriately. This has also given us an opportunity to communicate with different members of the class.

As a cohort we hope you enjoy the upcoming break and look forward to another action-packed term!
