Term 1 Week 10
Before school starts, students are welcome to head to Tirkandi Library to relax and unwind. Some enjoy quiet reading, while others socialise and collaborate with friends over games. It’s a great way to begin the day with fun and creativity. Here’s a glimpse of our mornings!
The Premier’s Reading Challenge has officially kicked off for 2025, and we encourage all students to take part. It’s a great way to challenge yourself to read more and be rewarded for your effort.
Completed forms can be handed in to your teacher or the library. Start reading today and take on the challenge!
Just a quick reminder of how borrowing works in the library:
Reception - Can borrow 4 books
Years 1, 2, 3, 4 - Can borrow 8 books
Years 5 and 6 - Can borrow 10 books
Parents/Caregivers - Can borrow 10 books
Please remember to bring your library bag (Reception and Year 1/2), and return any overdue books to start borrowing again. Books can be kept for up to 2 weeks. If you’ve forgotten to return a book, don’t worry – just drop it in the returns box when you get the chance!
Students can return books by placing them in their classroom library box or directly into the green returns box in Tirkandi. Please note that only staff members are allowed to return books and use the returns computer. If a book is returned damaged, please place it in the Book Doctor box for repairs.
Library computer borrowing is available only for students in Years 3 to 6. The borrowing period runs from 8:40am to 8:50am. Computers can be borrowed by those who have either damaged their own computers or forgotten to bring them to school.
When you borrow a computer, we will record your name, class, and the computer's barcode. Each student must borrow a computer under their own name.
Please remember that all borrowed computers must be returned to the library by the end of the day. If a student forgets to return their computer three times, they will be unable to borrow for three days. Should this happen again, the borrowing restriction period will be extended.
Please note that these computers are secondhand, so they may be slower or have keys that are a bit tricky to use. If you notice any other damages, please inform your teachers, IT staff, or me directly.
The school library policy regarding overdue, lost, or damaged books is as follows:
If a library book is overdue or lost for 2 weeks or more, or if it is returned damaged, a fee of $15 will be charged. However, if the book is found or returned, you will be reimbursed the full amount.
Please note that students will not be able to borrow any additional books until the overdue book is returned or the payment is made. The fees collected are used to replace the lost or damaged book. Thank you for your understanding!
Our library is open at the following times for families to come in, borrow books, or just enjoy some quiet reading time:
