Celebrating the growth in our wonderful children on each learning level...
This week, Preps received their new yellow books and they’ve been putting them to great use! These special books are for practising handwriting and writing sentences. The children are doing an amazing job remembering to use capital letters at the start of their sentences and full stops at the end. They’re also working super hard to write neatly, take their time, and stay on the lines. We’re so proud of you all. Keep up the good work!
In Year 1 we have begun a new English Unit called 'Blast from the Past'. We have been learning about the study of geology and about the parts of the Earth, including volcanoes! We conducted a fun experiment with Coca-Cola, red paint and mentos to understand how a volcanic eruption occurs. Check out some of our mini volcanic eruptions below!
Our Year 2 students have enjoyed learning about life cycles in English. To demonstrate their understanding of the life cycle of a butterfly, they wrote an informational summary. Students used first, next, then and finally to sequence their steps. They used key vocabulary including complete metamorphosis and chrysalis. We hope you enjoy reading their writing pieces below.
This term in Science, our Year 3 students have been exploring the unit Creature Features, focusing on the life cycles of plants and animals. This week, we took our learning outdoors! Students walked around the front of the school to observe and record the traits of various plant species. Working independently or in small groups, they used Seesaw to take photos and record the features of six different plants. It was a fantastic opportunity to engage with the natural environment and apply their observation skills in a hands-on way.
We had a fantastic time at our Celebration of Learning event! Over the past few weeks, our Year 4 students have been working hard in Maths, focusing on multiplication. They’ve been learning to multiply 2- and 3-digit numbers by 1-digit numbers, both with and without regrouping. Students also explored how to multiply three 1-digit numbers and investigated the relationship between multiplication, arrays, and fact families.
It was great to see families join in last week for our fun, interactive fact family game. Thank you to everyone who came along. We’re excited to see our students continue growing in confidence. Don’t forget to keep practising those times tables at home!
Over the past few weeks, Year 5 students have let their imaginations soar as they created their own imaginative texts. They crafted stories that included a clear orientation, exciting action, a gripping problem, a thoughtful resolution, and a satisfying conclusion. Each story took readers on a unique journey through an exciting portal, whether into magical kingdoms, futuristic cities, or mysterious lands filled with unexpected twists and turns. Along the way, many students challenged themselves to enhance their writing by using adjective pairs, adverbials, and figurative language such as similes, metaphors, and personification. We are so proud of the student’s creativity, persistence, and growing confidence as they undertook this writing task. There’s no doubt, we have some future storytellers coming our way!
Last Thursday, our first ever Grade 6 Poetry Slam was a huge success! Students wowed us with powerful performances across all genres, from comedy and satire to romance and heartfelt emotion.
After a term of falling in love with poetry, Year 6 delivered expressive, creative, and unforgettable pieces. Families and teachers packed the room, and the energy was electric and we had a blast! A big thank you to everyone who came to support. Well done, Year 6 - you smashed it! We can't wait to continue hosting this event for Year 6 cohorts to come
