Year 9 & 10
Mr Brad Cotterell
I would like to commend Year 9 students on a successful start to the academic year. This term has brought a noticeable step up in academic expectations and social pressures for the cohort and I have been impressed by how well students have adapted to these changes. It has been heartening to see so many students involved in events and supporting one another, with a willingness to engage and contribute to the life of the school community.
Looking ahead, we are excited about our social event — an evening at the Escape Room. We will have pizza and test our teamwork and problem-solving skills, with hopefully lots of laughs and smiles along the way.
Over the holidays, I encourage you to take time to rest, recharge and connect with friends and family; it has been a big first term.
Term One has been a time of transition, growth and adjustment for our Year 10 students, who have moved from the familiar rhythms of Year 9 into the more demanding pace of Year 10 with many new students joining their ranks. Many students have navigated this shift with determination and grace. The increased academic workload and evolving expectations from staff can be challenging, but the response so far has been encouraging and I commend our Year 10 cohort for their energy and positivity.
A highlight this term was the Year 10 Social — an evening that reflected the spirit and camaraderie of the year group.
As we look toward Term Two, I urge students to begin with clarity of purpose. With examinations scheduled for Week 7, it is important to use this break wisely to reflect on their own study habits and prepare thoughtfully and methodically for these important examinations.
I hope you enjoy a restful and rewarding holiday and return with energy and focus.
