Fantastic activities ahead for St George’s Day

St George’s Day

In Week 2 of Term Two, we will celebrate St George’s Day with a special Patronal Chapel Service and a focus on the values that define our school community.

As part of this celebration, students will participate in meaningful Service-Learning activities during their usual PAWS time. These activities aim to foster a sense of community, responsibility, and pride in giving back.

Year 7 – St Bart’s Winter Appeal

Year 7 students will support St Bart’s Winter Appeal by donating essential items. To help ensure a variety of donations, each House is asked to focus on specific items:

  • Gandhi: Deodorant, wipes, shower gel/soap, toothbrush, toothpaste
  • Lincoln: Blankets, beanies, gloves, scarves
  • Mandela: Socks, underwear, backpacks

While these guidelines help balance contributions, students are welcome to bring any listed item regardless of House. On Monday 5 May, students will be involved in sorting and categorising the donated goods. We thank you in advance for your generosity in supporting this vital cause.

Year 8 – Food Bank WA

Year 8 students will be supporting Food Bank WA by collecting non-perishable food items. Please refer to the attached image for a list of suggested donations. On Monday 5 May, students will take part in sorting and categorising items for distribution.

Donations can be given to either your PCG teacher or directly to the organising staff member. Your kindness and support will go a long way toward helping those in need.

Year 9 – Anglicare WA

Year 9 students will collaborate with Anglicare WA, participating in an advocacy workshop led by Anglicare representatives. This hands-on session will introduce students to the real-world impact of community outreach and is a great introduction for those interested in becoming a Year 10 Anglicare Ambassador in 2026.

Year 10 - Lap-A-Thon for Starlight Foundation

Year 10 students will take part in a Lap-A-Thon at Wellington Square to raise funds for the Starlight Foundation, which supports children living with illness by bringing fun and joy into their lives. Students will come to school in their PE uniform with their House shirt. Each student is encouraged to find at least one sponsor to pledge a donation for every lap completed. Each Year 10 is asked to raise $10.

Pledge forms should be returned to PCG teachers as soon as possible. Let’s run for a great cause!

Year 11 – Kings Park Resilient Landscapes Project

Year 11 students will spend the day at Kings Park, participating in the Resilient Landscapes Project. Through a rotation of hands-on activities, they will contribute to the restoration and preservation of local biodiversity. Students should wear House shirts and bring their lunch, as the cohort will enjoy a picnic together at the park.

Year 12 – Self-Directed Service

Year 12 students will undertake a self-led Service-Learning activity of their choice. With the demands of final-year studies, this opportunity encourages students to make time for random acts of kindness, whether big or small.

After Period 4, students will be dismissed to complete their chosen service activity—this could include cooking a family meal, picking up litter, helping a neighbour, walking a pet, collecting a sibling from school, washing the family card or any act that contributes positively to others.

They will be asked to share a photo of their service learning activity so we can see what they have prioritised at this time.

We look forward to a heartwarming week of service and community spirit across all year groups.

Thank you for supporting the values that make St George’s so special.
