Maths – Notan Art

Our students created incredible artwork inspired by Notan art! Notan (pronounced no-tan) is a Japanese concept that emphasizes the harmony and balance between light and dark. The students got creative, designing unique pieces that explored shape, space, and contrast in exciting ways. They used both their creative and mathematical skills to create their design.

Harmony Day

We celebrated Harmony Day on Friday, March 21- a day dedicated to fostering a sense of belonging, embracing cultural diversity, and appreciating uniqueness and differences. The students enjoyed dressing up in cultural attire, showcasing their unique backgrounds, and sharing interesting facts with others.

Maths Afternoon

What a fantastic afternoon we had at our Open Maths Afternoon! We warmly welcomed our visitors and proudly shared our work, knowledge, and skills with them. It was wonderful to see everyone engaged—playing maths games, tackling challenges, and most importantly, having a world of fun!

Our visitors were incredibly impressed with the students' work, calculations, and creativity! It was wonderful to see the students showcase their learning with such confidence and enthusiasm. What a fantastic celebration of maths!

Tessellation Patterns with Shape

Students have been deeply engaged in exploring two-dimensional shapes, examining their properties, and discovering where they fit. We've been discussing how shapes can be turned, flipped, and rotated—ranging from simple squares to complex decagons. It's been amazing to hear them reason through their understandings, explaining how and why certain shapes fit together. Their creativity has really shone through as they consider design, size, shape, properties, and even color.

Writer’s corner

Oh my goodness—this week, we started exploring figurative language, and the writing that has come from it has been absolutely amazing! Students have gained so much confidence, and it's incredible to see them beginning to view themselves as real writers. Watching their creativity flourish has been such a joy!

Gardening

We wrapped up our final gardening session for the term, and it’s been wonderful to see students take responsibility and show such care for the garden. The Grade 34s have truly enjoyed being involved—looking after the chooks, sweeping, cleaning, weeding, pruning, composting, and simply observing all the changes. It’s been great to watch them connect with nature and take pride in their work!

Hawks Visit

Last Tuesday, we were incredibly lucky to have the Hawthorn Football Club visit our school! The senior students had a fantastic time during the Q&A session with the Hawks players, asking everything from how many grand finals they’ve won to what inspired them to pursue a football career. There were plenty of laughs, and the visit ended on a high note with excited students collecting autographs and sharing high-fives!
