House Cross Country Carnival – A Day of Spirit, Sportsmanship, and Support

Last term’s House Cross Country Carnival was a resounding success, filled with energy, determination, and a fantastic display of house spirit. We’d like to extend a huge congratulations to all our students who took part in the event. Whether you were sprinting to the finish line or cheering on your fellow housemates, your enthusiasm and encouragement truly brought the carnival to life.

It was wonderful to see students not only striving for personal bests but also showing great sportsmanship—clapping, cheering, and supporting one another throughout the day. Events like these remind us that it’s not just about winning, but about coming together as a community. The SJV spirit was definitely on show!

A heartfelt thank you also goes out to the many parents and carers who joined us on the day. Your presence and support make a world of difference. We are especially grateful to those who volunteered their time to help marshal students along the course—your help ensured the event ran smoothly and safely.

Families of grade  to six students, please keep an eye on nForma. Information will soon be coming out about District Cross Country (Tuesday, 13 May) for those students that qualified.

Thank you again to everyone who made the House Cross Country Carnival such a memorable and uplifting day. We can’t wait to do it all again next year!

Run Club

In preparation for District Cross Country, Run Club will be continuing in Term 2. All grade 3-6 students are invited to join the Run Club on Friday mornings. We meet at Walter Galt Reserve 8:15 AM, and students will be escorted to school once finished. Students who qualified for District Cross Country are higly encouraged to attend.

Winter Interschool Sport

We’re excited to announce that our Winter Interschool Sport program is about to begin! This term, students in grades 4 to 6 will have the opportunity to participate in a variety of team sports, promoting fitness, teamwork, and school spirit.

This season’s sports include:

  • AFL 9’s – An exciting new addition! This modified version of AFL is fast-paced, inclusive, and designed for maximum participation and fun.
  • Soccer  – A 9-a-side format on a smaller sized pitch.
  • Netball – The traditional rules and format
  • Teeball – A modified format of softball/baseball

Games will be played against other local schools, and students will train during scheduled PE and sport sessions each week. More detailed information, including game schedules and equipment/uniform requirements please see nForma.

We look forward to another fantastic season and thank you for your continued support in helping us foster a love of sport and physical activity in our students.
