Grade One / Two

Class Information

Welcome back.

We hope you have all enjoyed your extended break over the Term 1 school holidays. We are looking forward to seeing everyone next Monday on our first day of Term 2.

Over the next few weeks, the Grade 1 and 2 students will focus on making text to self, text to text and text to world connections before, during and after reading a text. They will become familiar with the phonemes that can represent the sounds /o/ ( ow, oa and o_e) and /oo/ (ue, ew and u_e) when identifying words in isolation and also when reading a text. Students will continue to develop their bank of nouns, verbs and adjectives and will enjoy pulling apart different elements of ‘The Stone Lion’, ‘The Pencil’ and ‘Let’s get a pup!’ storybooks.

The students will continue to work on their place value, addition and subtraction skills. They will begin to explore different geographical places, beginning with Australia. In Religion, students will begin the story of Pentecost. They will begin to explore positive gender relations in Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships.
