From the Principal

Dear Families,
A very warm welcome back to Term 2! We hope your Easter break was filled with rest, renewal, and joyful moments with loved ones. As we return to school, we do so with enthusiasm and gratitude for the many opportunities this term holds.
Professional Learning
Our staff began the term by engaging in three days of rich Professional Learning with Dr Jared Cooney Horvath, centred on the Science of Learning. This time together was incredibly valuable, providing us with deeper insights into how students learn and how we can continue to refine our teaching practices. It was affirming to see that many of the strategies we already use at St Liborius are strongly aligned with this research. We are excited to carry this momentum into the classroom, always striving to support our students in becoming confident and capable learners.
ANZAC Day
Last week, we also paused to remember the courage and sacrifice of our ANZACs. On Monday afternoon, our school gathered for a respectful and moving liturgy to honour their legacy. We would especially like to acknowledge and thank our student leaders who represented St Liborius so respectfully at the Eaglehawk ANZAC Day service. Their presence and conduct were a credit to themselves, their families, and our school community.
Vale Pope Francis
This week, we join the global Church in giving thanks for the life and legacy of Pope Francis. A man of humility, courage, and grace, Pope Francis has inspired us all to walk gently, speak kindly, and act justly. His faithful example of living out the teachings of Jesus continues to challenge us to do the same in our daily lives—through kindness, service, and love for others.
The Papal Conclave process is both sacred and fascinating, and we look forward to exploring it with our students in the days and weeks to come.
2026 Enrolments
We’re also delighted to announce that enrolments for 2026 are now open. We are excited to welcome new families into our community and to showcase the vibrant, faith-filled learning environment we are so proud of at St Liborius. If you know of any families considering primary school options, we encourage you to spread the word and invite them to book a tour with us. On Monday 5th May we will have our online Enrolment form available on our website for all enrolment enquiries.
Importance of Attendance and Punctuality
A gentle reminder about the importance of school attendance and punctuality. Being on time each day ensures that students don’t miss valuable learning—especially the crucial review time at the beginning of each session. As part of our learning approach and our growing understanding of how the brain processes and stores knowledge, we know that reviewing key concepts helps move learning from working memory into long-term memory. When students arrive late, they miss this vital opportunity, and it can impact their ability to fully engage with new content.
We thank you for your ongoing support and partnership as we work together to nurture the hearts and minds of every child at St Liborius. All the best for a terrific Term 2!
With many blessings,
Alannah Darmody
