Dear Parents,

On Tuesday, Bathurst Public School proudly hosted the Bathurst Network Assistant Principal Curriculum and Instruction Meeting. Curriculum leaders from across the Central West gathered to collaborate on explicit teaching strategies and explore the latest curriculum initiatives from the Department of Education. The meeting featured learning walks through several of our infants and primary classrooms, showcasing the powerful explicit teaching practices deeply embedded within our school. This event was a celebration of our commitment to high-quality education and continuous improvement.

WESTERN CROSS COUNTRY CARNIVAL

Last Wednesday, 9 students represented Bathurst Public and the Bathurst district to compete in the Western Region Cross Country Carnival in Orange. Up against the best runners from all over the Western Region, our runners did a fantastic job, with many competing at this level for the first time, others meeting personal goals, and others finishing in a higher position than last year. Well done to all our cross country runners on doing a great job!

CANBERRA EXCURSION

Our Stage 3 students have enjoyed a fantastic start to their Canberra Excursion. On Day 1, students visited Parliament House and the Australian Institute of Sport, gaining valuable insights into Australia's democracy and sporting excellence.

Today, students are continuing their Canberra experience with visits to Old Parliament House and Government House, where they will further explore Australia's history, heritage and government.

A sincere thank you to Mr Datt, Mrs Calder, Miss Barber, Mr Thackray, Mrs Cafe, Ms Hall, Mrs White, Mrs Culham and Mr Coombes for their work supporting and caring for our students throughout this excursion. Their dedication, enthusiasm and commitment have helped make this experience both enjoyable and memorable for our students. We greatly appreciate the time and effort they invest in providing these wonderful opportunities for our children.

We look forward to welcoming our students home tomorrow evening and can't wait to hear all about their adventures, favourite moments and the memories they have made during their time in Canberra.

COMMUNITY HEROES DRESS UP DAY

A reminder that our SRC Community Heroes Dress Up Day will be held next Friday, 26 June.

Students are encouraged to dress up as a community hero they admire, such as emergency service personnel, doctors, nurses, veterinarians, postal workers, sports coaches, crossing supervisors, retail workers, tradespeople, teachers, security staff and many more.

Students are reminded to wear enclosed shoes, warm clothing and a school hat on the day.

As part of the celebration, students are also encouraged to create a poster, card or letter to thank a community hero of their choice and bring it to school.

We look forward to seeing the many different community heroes represented across our school and celebrating the people who make a positive difference in our lives every day.

Spotlight on Attendance

Every school day matters,  and every minute helps your child learn. The school day begins at 9:00 am. Arriving on time helps children settle calmly and start learning straight away.

As winter settles in, cold, wet weather has brought an increase in seasonal illnesses. If your child is unwell, please notify us of their absence through the parent portal. For absences of three days or more, a medical certificate is required. Thank you for helping us keep our school community healthy

If you have any concerns about any aspect of school life, please do not hesitate contact me.
