END OF TERM WRAP UP

T3 2025

Wow! Where has this year gone.

As I write this I am reflecting on all of the amazing things we have achieved this year and already looking towards a busy Term 4, which is one of celebration via many whole school events and marks the end of our Senior Students time with us at Hackham East PS!

Student Learning and Achievements this term:

  • We welcomed our new mid-year Reception students who are settling into new routines and building their school values.
  • Students have continued to show great progress across their learning areas with notable improvements in literacy and numeracy outcomes. We value their efforts as Learners by being Persistent, Resilient, using their Courage and being Inclusive of others in learning and at play.
  • Wonderful progress with our High Behaviour Expectations of Respectful, Inclusive, Learners. Our students continue to be acknowledged for their caring and thoughtful choices and earn house points that build towards the House Team Values shield at the end of this year.
  • We continue to foster dispositions of Creativity & Curiosity in a range of ways with all of our learners and love seeing them ‘light up’ with their questions and wonder!

Special Events and Activities:

  • Hackham East Primary School celebrated Book Week with engaging activities, including the highly anticipated dress-up community parade and engaging with the shortlisted books and activities with our ‘Buddy Classes’. We also celebrated the week with a visit by celebrated Author Mandy Foot.
  • Harmony Day celebrations highlighted the wonderful diversity of our community. Students participated in cultural sharing activities that included music, art, and storytelling with their ‘Buddy Classes.’
  • Bullying No Way! Day – thanks to Mrs Dowd and our VoiceIt Committee students who planned and ran a range of activities to highlight what students can do if they need support and how to support others.
  • Castle ‘Starry Nights Incursion’ at school – our Castle students were excited to return to school after hours to enjoy pizza and hands on activities linked with their learning about stars and space! This culminated with a walk around the oval with our torches to check out the stars!
  • The Kaboom music group returned and performed for the whole school last week. They are a percussion group that creates music using everyday objects. This bi-annual performance is loved by all and sparks great creativity in our Arts program.
  • Our highly loved Sports Day was run last week with the Red Team being the victors on the day – congratulations to the Red Team and Captains and Vice Captains on leading your team. It was wonderful to see so many of our school families attend to enjoy and cheer us all on!

Professional Development:

  • Staff engaged in valuable professional development sessions this term during staff meeting and a Student Free Day, focusing on differentiated instruction for Neurodiverse learners, Maths curriculum and building Thinking Routines to foster dispositions for learning to further enhance teaching strategies and support diverse learners.

Community Engagement:

  • Parent-teacher interviews provided an opportunity to strengthen the partnership between families and the school, ensuring conversations to support your child’s ongoing growth. Thank you to our families that made time in your busy schedules to attend and chat with your child’s classroom teacher – we really appreciate these connections!
  • Volunteers – thank you to all that have volunteered your time to support our school this term. The Sausage Sizzle on Sports Day could have not gone ahead without your support and our Canteen relies on the wonderful people that volunteer their time across the term to keep this service viable for all families to access! We truly appreciate your time and support!

The term has continued to be a wonderful showcase of Hackham East Primary School's commitment to fostering a supportive and dynamic learning environment. Thank you to the students, staff, and parents for all their hard work and partnership throughout this term!

Have a wonderful break with your children (if you get one) and a reminder that the first day of Term for is a School Closure Day for staff training.

We look forward to seeing you all on Tuesday, October 14!

Kind regards,

Ms Sally
