Year 2

It has been a wonderful start to Term 4 in Year 2.
In Weeks 1 and 2, students participated in Catholic Mission Week. Students learned about the country Zambia and the challenges experienced by Zambian communities. Students reflected on what they can do to help others and serve their community. It was a bright and colourful Friday in Year 2 when students wore casual clothes as part of Mission Week.
In Week 2, we celebrated NAIDOC week. We participated in a fun morning of games and activities which allowed students to develop a richer understanding of Australia’s First Nations people. A favourite activity was the game Chuboochuboo where students had to work as a team to throw and catch a ball as many times as possible without dropping it.
In Science, students have been exploring mixtures. Students have enjoyed making their own mixtures in the classroom, combining materials such as icing sugar, cocoa powder and puffed rice. Each week, we have been discussing the mixtures we may be making at home, like cake batter and milkshakes!
In Art, students have created wonderful tulip artworks using pointillist techniques. Our tulips look so colourful in our classrooms!
