Well done to all the students who participated in the Greater Western Regional Athletics in Ballarat last Friday. The results were as follows:
1500m - Chase 14th, Phoebe 8th, Zoe 7th, Betsy 10th, Luciano 11th, Patrick 13th
800m – Patrick 14th , Betsy 13th, Luciano 14th
100m – Regan 3rd, Chloe 9th, Lotus 12th, Sid 13th
200m – Emmanuel 15th, Louis 10th, Thomas 13th, Lotus 12th, Regan 1st, Rory 11th
High Jump - Lotus 5th, Micah 11th, Beau 2nd
Discus - Beau 6th, Brock 10th

80m Hurdles – cancelled due to strong winds

Congratulations to Beau and Regan who will compete at the State Athletics on Thursday 6th November at Lakeside Stadium, Albert Park. We wish them all the best.
A big thank you to Hannah and Cody for their help on the day and to the parents who supported the day.
Junior Cricket
With the junior cricket season right around the corner, the school is providing information on local cricket clubs within the wider Barwon region. Please see attached GCA-BPCA flyer with junior club details. Use the QR code to register.
Colac Division Basketball
Trials are currently being held at school for the Sacred Heart Basketball teams (1 Boys team and 1 Girls team) that will compete in the Colac Division Basketball Championships on Monday 20th October at Bluewater Leisure Centre. The teams will be finalised by Wednesday this week, and the information will be sent home via PAM. St Brendan’s Primary School have asked for some extra boys to help out with their team. These players will also be indicated on PAM. If anyone has a secondary student that is a current basketball referee that would be willing to help out on this day, can you please contact Ms Lynch or the school office. We would be very grateful for your help.

Colac Division Hot Shots Competition
The Colac Division Got Shots competition will be held on Thursday 30th October at Colac South West Primary School. Trials for this event, for our Year 5 and 6 students were held in Term 1 and Term 3. Information will be sent via PAM to selected students. We are currently waiting to for how many teams we can enter into the event.
Year 5/6 Swimming Program
Our students in Year 5 and 6 will attend swimming lessons at Bluewater from Monday 8th , Wednesday 10th, Thursday 11th, Friday 12th, Monday 15th December. Lessons will take place between 11:30am – 2:30pm. Swimming is part of the school curriculum, so it is important that all the students support this program. More information will be sent out via PAM closer to the event.

Name: Poppy S (Yr 6SF)
1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are netball, soccer, tennis and dance.
2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is netball.
3. Why is this your favourite sport? Netball is my favourite sport because of the thrill of getting a goal or deflecting the ball when defending.
4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I got my first goal in soccer.
5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My biggest strength in sport is my defending skills. I am able to anticipate what it going to happen.
6. Why do you love playing sports? I love playing sport because my parents allow me to play lots of sports. I also like the adrenalin rush you get from playing sport.
7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Mum.
8. Why are they your favourite? Mum is my favourite player because she never gives up and she is good at sport.
9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Melbourne Vixens.
10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good sport and that I try very hard.
Name: Connor R (Yr 6TR)
1. What sports do you play? The main sport I play is karate.
2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is karate.
3. Why is this your favourite sport? Karate is my favourite sport because it is good fun to fight.
4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when I won my first medal in a karate competition.
5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My strengths in sport is my discipline and my body strength.
6. Why do you love playing sports? I love competing in karate because I enjoy the fighting and I get to meet new people.
7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is my Sensei.
8. Why are they your favourite? My Sensei is my favourite sports person because he inspires me and encourages me to do better.
9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.
10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a good person.
Name: Lotus R (Yr 5MC)
1. What sports do you play? The sports I play are horse riding, basketball and netball.
2. Which sport is your favourite to play? My favourite sport to play is horse riding.
3. Why is this your favourite sport? Horse riding is my favourite sport because it is fun to do and I love horses.
4. What is your proudest sporting moment? My proudest sporting moment was when in a horse riding competition in Warrnambool I won with the smallest horse.
5. What are your strengths that help you with sport? My biggest strength in sport is my balance, and this is needed to be a good horse rider.
6. Why do you love playing sports? I love horse riding because I get to work with the horses.
7. Who is your favourite sports person? My favourite sports person is Australian Equestrian Rider Shane Rose.
8. Why are they your favourite? Shane Rose is my favourite player because he won three gold medals at the Olympics.
9. What is your favourite sporting team? My favourite sports team is the Geelong Cats.
10. How would your coaches and teammates describe you? My coach and team mates would say that I am a fun player who tries very hard.
