Congratulations To Our Published Authors

St Bede’s College is now a publisher and our students are published authors!

16 students across Years 7 to 9 have participated in our Write a Book in a Term program.

Working in pairs, our students planned, created and published a picture book, collaborating with Year 2 students from St Patricks Primary School Mentone, who gave them ideas for their books as Junior Advisors.

Our boys worked during lunchtimes and free time to create their stories, and across Book Week in an all-day writing workshop and a visit to their Junior Advisors. Now their books are completed and published, the boys returned to St Patricks to present the school with a copy of each book for their own library.

Each book has been issued an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) that identifies it, making it discoverable for ordering and sale. ISBNs are used internationally across the book trade and library sectors, linking to essential information about a book, such as its publisher and author. It appears on the back of each book in the form of a barcode. This means that each student is now an officially published author or illustrator and St Bede’s College is a publisher!

All materials published in the state are also required to be added to the legal depository of the State Library. As such, digital versions of each book have been submitted to the State Library of Victoria and will soon be discoverable to the world for perpetuity.

Copies of all books can be ordered via the following links and copies will be added to the school library once they arrive from the printer.
