5-Year Reunions for the Classes of 2021
Wantirna South Campus
At our celebration dinner for the Wantirna South cohort, Mr Andrew Bawden was host for the evening, welcoming everyone back on a warm, relaxed June night. Your College Captains, Josh Tang and Katelyn Molyneux, greeted everyone at the door and were able to recognize all of your faces, even after 5 years! (Let's see if this happens again at the 10-year reunion!)
Many jokes were made about this reunion being fancier than this class's Covid-era valedictory dinner that was held in the gym, but when Mr Andrew Bawden, Mrs Ann Conibear and Mr Joel Chapman got up to share their memories of 2021, they reflected honestly on the struggle and challenge that this class endured during the Covid pandemic and two key years of school disruption. They remarked on their perseverance, resilience and generosity in the face of tedious lockdowns and Zoom lessons, and applauded their endurance and strong character in everything they have gone on to do and achieve since then. Since the extended edition of their Year 12 video was 16 minutes long, we watched about half before deciding that the memories were enough (you can see it in all its Zoom-y glory here), and then enjoyed a campus tour of all the new areas that have been built since their time here.
The evening concluded with delicious dessert and plenty of time to chat and catch up with old friends and teachers. Mr Rod Ramsay closed out the evening by recalling the speech he gave at their valedictory about perspective, and how five years provides plenty of time for that to change in many ways. After the final group photo, the chatting even continued outside in the light rain, long after the doors were locked.
Narre Warren South Campus
On Thursday 23 July, the Narre Warren South Campus warmly welcomed back the Class of 2021 for their five-year reunion. The evening was a joyful celebration of friendship, faith and the lasting impact of a shared school journey. Alumni were delighted to reconnect with familiar faces, including many teachers and College leadership.
Guests enjoyed exceptional food and hospitality, before Mr Anson Tu brought plenty of laughter as the evening's Game Master, leading a series of fun activities that quickly rekindled the camaraderie of the Class of 2021. One of the highlights of the evening was Mr Aaron Woolnough's humorous and heartfelt reflections on the unique personality of the cohort. His stories reminded everyone why this year level was remembered for its warmth, kindness and genuine sense of community, drawing plenty of laughter and knowing smiles from around the room.
More than simply a reunion, the evening served as a reminder that while careers, studies and life circumstances may have changed, the friendships, faith and community formed at Waverley Christian College continue to leave a lasting legacy. The Class of 2021 departed with full hearts, renewed connections and great anticipation for what their ten-year reunion will bring.

Our First On-Campus 30-Year Reunion
