Resource Centre

Term 2 continues to be a busy time in the Resource Centre. As the weather grows cooler, many learners are choosing to spend their break times in the warmth of the library, enjoying board games, reading, and socialising with friends.
The grey skies outside have been more than offset by the colourful display of student artwork brightening the library walls.
Another new addition to the Library is the Celtic Cross. When a catastrophic fire destroyed a classroom block at St Michael's Regional High School on 28 May 1998, the community faced a profound loss. However, from the ash and ruin emerged a symbol of enduring hope. The Celtic Cross, which had long been embedded in the external wall of the burning building, was successfully salvaged.
To honor its significance, the subsequent restoration was approached with deep historical reverence. Timbers were carefully salvaged from the floors of the original St Michael's Church—which had also served as early classrooms—and the historic Mt Erin School. Weaving these timbers into the restoration process imbued the cross with an even deeper layer of meaning, physically anchoring it to the true pioneers of Catholic faith and education in Wagga Wagga.
Looking ahead, our next display will celebrate the excitement of soccer in anticipation of the upcoming FIFA World Cup later this month.
Featuring a range of soccer-themed fiction and non-fiction titles, the display aims to inspire learners to explore new stories and discover fascinating facts. We hope students will be encouraged to pick up a book and kick off their next reading adventure.
