Principal's Report

Mr Pitt

Dear Parents/ Carers,

COVID-SMART MEASURES

I would like to take this opportunity to remind you that we are still continuing our COVID-smart measures to reduce the risk of COVID-19 and other respiratory illnesses such as the flu in our school community.

These includes a combination of layered safety measures such as:

  • Staying home if unwell and encouraged to test for COVID-19 if showing any COVID-19 symptoms and how it spreads | NSW Government. Students and staff are advised to stay home until they are well, even if they have a negative COVID-19 test result.
  • Recommending masks to be worn by all students, staff and visitors, particularly when indoors or when physical distancing is difficult to maintain, if exposed to COVID-19 Advice for people exposed to COVID-19 | NSW Government, and when interacting with students at greater risk of serious illness if they were to contract COVID-19 – including students in Schools for Specific Purposes, support units and some mainstream settings.
  • Maintaining natural ventilation with windows and doors open whenever possible, including when cooling/heating systems are in use.
  • Continuing to provide RATs to our school community, free of charge while stocks last.

BIKE VISITS WITH MR PITT

This last fortnight I visited 4 Yengo and OSH CLUB.

4 YENGO – Last Monday morning I visited 4Y during literacy. Children were sharing their knowledge about persuasive writing. It was great to hear all the children turn and speak to a partner during this time. After this Miss Yousif read a letter to the class titled ‘Our School Should Cancel Christmas’. Children were able to identify plenty of clues highlighting why the writing was persuasive. Some children located high modality words and were confident in sharing their opinions with the class. I am looking forward to reading some of 4Y’s own letters soon!

OSH CLUB – Last Friday I visited OSH CLUB for a short time. From the moment I walked in, there were plenty of activities for the children to do. Some children were reading, playing instruments, chilling out on some comfy pillows, creating, drawing and making models using kinetic sand. There was even some time to have a nap! There is a wonderful team of educators at OSH CLUB, led by Miss Rhiannon. If you would like to find out more info, please visit the Hall mornings or afternoons to find out more.

Check out some of the pics in this week’s edition of the newsletter. This is the last bike visit for 2023. As always, I have enjoyed riding my bike around the school and then being able to spend time in classrooms and learning spaces is my favourite part of any day.

REPEATED: 2024 ORGANISATION

We are currently organising class structures for 2024 and last week we sent home a note regarding family plans for 2024. If you are returning to Fairvale PS in 2024 you do not need to anything, however, if you are planning on leaving OR returning a little late then we need you to complete the note. If you would like to speak to someone about this, please contact the office.

FAIR DAY - POSTPONED!

During FAIR DAY, we ask that parents/ carers understand that we are remaining COVID-smart and request support by following all directions from Fairvale staff on the day. The new date is Wednesday 6 December, 2023.

FAIR DAY is not for high-school brothers, sisters, friends or cousins to attend as the one adult per family.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATIONS

We have some exciting events still to come this year. See information below.

Have a great fortnight,
