Principal's Report

Hi wonderful Woori community,

Last week was the perfect example of why I simply love this school and this community. We had a pretty big crisis on our hands at 7:15am Thursday. We knew straight away that no one would be able to access the building but we had to wait for conformation from the education department that we could close. That was around 8:15am, the way parents reacted and the support we got was simply incredible and I can’t thank you all enough. I even told parents at the kiss and drop that I was sure we would be open on Friday, which of course didn’t happen. No one complained and everyone understood that what did occur was a massive mistake, but wasn’t in the school’s control. I thank you all again for being so calm and understanding.

Huge thank you to Marc & the Team at Silvan Timber who have very kindly donated everything we need to build a new fence for our kitchen garden.

Take Pride at All Times

I’m so proud of what we have achieved as a school and a community. The results that teachers are telling me around individual children’s growth this year is just brilliant. The school wants what I believe all parents want, and that is for our children to get a really good education, while being in a fun and supportive environment. The results I’m seeing across the board are just sensational and demonstrate again how brilliant the Woori Yallock P.S. teachers are.

This week we hosted 12 teachers from Gippsland schools, those teachers came from as far away as Orbost and Marlo to see our teachers in action.  Which, is another example of how well the school is thought of in education circles. The teachers that came were amazed at what they saw and how beautiful and well taught our children are.

Considering we had a lot on in terms of moving to a new building and coping with all the building works around us. The school has again demonstrated that is a very high performing school with outstanding NAPLAN results, teacher judgement results, Student Survey and Staff Survey results. It is a great problem to have that parents are enrolling for 2025, 26 and yes, we even have one for 2027!

I can’t say it enough, I’m just so proud and privileged to be at this school.

In the last newsletter I had a few upcoming dates incorrect. I’m sorry if I confused anyone. The dates below are correct.

Grade Six Graduation Dinner

When – Tuesday 19th of December

Where – Killara Winery Seville East

Time – 5:15pm

We have again been lucky enough to secure Killara Winery as our graduation venue. It is probably the best venue for a graduation event in Melbourne. The manager at Killara, Kevin looks after our school and only does this for us. Thanks Kevin we do appreciate it so very much

Step Up Day - Tuesday December 12th

Step up day is always full of excitement, students across the school will meet their new teacher/s and have lots of fun getting to know their new class buddies. The Prep timeline is a little different to the rest of the school.

New Preps:  9.30am start – 12.30pm finish

Grade 1-6:  9.15am start – 1.30pm.

Students will then return to their current classrooms for lunch and the last hour with their current teacher.

Year 7 transition for government Secondary Schools is also held on this day. We wish our current grade sixes well as they transition to Secondary School. Parents, please note that there are no buses transporting students to their new Secondary Schools. This is up to parents to organise.

Reports

Teachers are currently finishing off a few assessments and will be finalising their reports. Reports will be released to parents via compass on Friday 8th of December

Please make sure you look after yourself over the next few weeks as it is such a really busy period for everything! I know that it’s scary but there is 2 weeks and 2 days to go in this school year. I’ll see you at the kiss and drop. I know that it’s scary but there is 2 weeks and 2 days to go in this school year.
