Twilight Fun

on another successful Twilight Market!

With over 40 market stalls, fabulous food trucks and marvellous music, the 2023 Twilight Market was a great event!  Hundreds of visitors joined the celebrations - grabbing a bite to eat, bidding on a bargain and browsing the stalls for treasure.

Every year the market seems to get bigger and better - and it has become a drawcard event on the BSC calendar.  With the SRC ensuring that stallholders were ready to trade at 5pm, H Block and F Block was soon humming with conversation and laughter while others enjoyed al fresco dining on the green, being entertained by our talented Performing Arts students.

The String Ensemble kicked off the evening with style, and performances continued with The Rartels ending the evening.

The SRC team really excelled itself preparing for Twilight Market this year.  Hendrix Gauci led the event, and coordinated the team as they worked together to prepare for stalls - vetting clothes,

creating signs, sorting books and more.  On the day, the SRC students set up the market space, greeted and ushered vendors, monitored rubbish, identified and returned lost property, answered queries, provided direction to all of our vendors and gall of this was done with enthusiasm and big smiles - and at the end of the night, the SRC stayed back to pack up and move furniture, clear

rubbish and ensure that the school spaces were ready for the resumption of classes on the following Monday.  Our market stallholders were especially impressed with the SRC who helped them to move stock and resources from their cars to their allocated spaces - and back againat the end of the night!

We sincerely thank

  • staff - Sheila Calwell, Andrey Dedcic, Sophie Dunn, Jennie Easson, Nathan Fistric, Michael Kean, Emily Palekis, Anastasia Papadopoulos, Chris Salmond and Ray Stivala for their help with staging the event, and special thanks to Ms Pardy who could not attend on the night, buy helped enormously with clearing left over stock!
  • the many Performing Arts students who were so enthusiastic in performing at the event, including several 2023 Graduates who returned to help out at the event
  • the many families who donated fabulous second-hand clothes, bric-a-brac and books for the SRC stalls
  • our lovely vendors - many of whom returned to the event after participating in 2022. The great variety and quality of the goods on sale was fantastic, and the vendors are all so cheerful, flexible, friendly and positive - and wonderful to work with. It is a joy to welcome them into our BSC community!
  • (most importantly) the wider school community who ventured to the market to actively support the  vendors, performers and Parents' Association and SRC. We hope you had a great time!

The Twilight Market truly is a COMMUNITY event, and delivering a successful and enjoyable evening for all is always the primary goal of the SRC team.

The entire team worked very, very hard to execute the event so it is gratifying that their efforts raised over $3000 (from market fees, commissions and their own enterprising stalls). These funds will be put toward SRC activities and projects next year, and we are proud to say that this is a record profit for the SRC Twilight Market Team!

For Every Child - School funding in the spotlight!

This year, we chose to invite an Australian Education Union representative to attend our Market, promoting the For Every Child initiative. This initiative aims to ensure that schools are fully funded by 2028.  Thank you to the 265 persons at the market who added their names to the list of supporters for this cause!
