Principal's Report

Every day matters

Dear Homestead community,

Term 4 thus far has been an incredibly fast paced term and it is hard to believe that we are already planning for the last stages of the year before we all head out for a well deserved break.

It is so pleasing to see that our students continued to attend 100% of their Year 12 exams, on time, with correct equipment and a readiness to do the best they can. It is even more pleasing to have experienced seeing students come out of their exams with smiles on faces and such positive outlook on what it was like.

The great practice and habit building of expectations in previous years has supported our students to perform to the best of their ability when it counted the most.

At Homestead, term 4 is represented by a focus on the value of resilience. This is the value of Gillard House. The shear determination and resilience of our students, backed by the positive culture around assessment and high expectations from our staff and families has been exemplified by our student behaviours and we could not be more proud of you all.

Year 12 VCAA exams are now all complete, we are all now eagerly awaiting the Valedictory dinner on November 24 as well as the Year 12 results being released on December 11.

We are also currently working with our Year 10 and 11 students through their exams and looking forward to then seeing them in commencement week where they will have a taste of next years classes, finished off with awards assemblies and enjoy a colour run to see them off for the year.

Staffing Update

As the year nears the end, I would like to warmly welcome new staff starting in 2024.

We welcome Bethany Collier as our new wellbeing counsellor after Jas Bhatia was successful at attaining the position of Wellbeing Leader at another college.

I would also like to warmly welcome Nasser Cura, Chemistry and Biology Teacher, Fiona Martin, Food Technology and Art Teacher and Lisa Glasgow who will be the new Food Technology and Art Assistant along with running the Homestead Cafe and Brad McCall who will be teaching IT.

Take care all!
