Smoothie Bar Incursion
On Monday 27 November the Year 5 students at school engaged in an immersive entrepreneurial experience called “The Smoothie Bar.” Throughout the day, they participated in a hands-on journey to craft a unique smoothie product and accompanying marketing campaign aimed at promoting health and wellness in their community. Divided into teams, the students delved into five key stages, discovering the intricacies of business ownership by investigating their target audience’s preferences, designing, understanding costs and profits, and finally, experimenting with delicious and nutritious blends. Leveraging their digital literacy and design skills, they created compelling marketing materials to endorse their brand and product. The climax of the day culminated in “The Pitch,” where teams showcased their abilities in front of teacher judges, aiming to secure investment for their company. This highly interactive day not only fostered teamwork but also honed critical thinking, problem-solving, creativity, financial literacy, digital literacy, communication, and presentation skills among the Year 5 cohort.
