Kindergarten

A message from Early Stage 1

As we move closer to the Christmas holiday season, we ask that students do not bring candy canes or lollies to hand out to their friends at school. We have a number of children with various allergies and we thank you for supporting us with this.

As you can see in the ‘Save the Date’ section below, we have our K-2 end of year assembly coming up very fast. Kindergarten will be performing a simple performance number or two and need some help getting our costumes together. If your child has a pair of sunglasses, can you please label them clearly with your child's name and send them to school by Friday 1 December.

On Tuesday 21 November, Kindergarten students were thoroughly engaged in learning about ’Safety on the Farm’. A huge thank you to Farmer James for not only giving his precious time, but also for teaching us all about keeping safe. Thank you for sharing pictures of some of the animals you have on your farm. We were able to meet Julie the bull and Roger Dodger the trusty cattle dog.

English

We are learning to:

  • identify and understand plurals (cats, dogs, pigs)
  • use the suffix ‘s’ at the end of words to change the meaning (cat = 1 cat, cats = more than one)
  • identify informative texts
  • understand that informative texts contain facts
  • write informative texts.

Mathematics

We are learning to:

  • describe and compare volumes
  • identify how many groups, how many in each group and count to find the total
  • share into equal groups and count to find how many in each group.

Integrated Learning

We are learning to:

  • understand that the way an object moves depends on a variety of factors, including its size or shape
  • identify that a push or pull can change the shape of an object
  • participate in guided investigations, make observations and share our knowledge.

We are learning to:

  • be safe on and around a farm, including animals, machinery and locations
  • identify the safe administration and storage of medicines.

  • use techniques and materials of choice to create our works.
