From our 2024 College Leaders

Meet our 2024 College Leaders

Yesterday, we had the official handover from our 2023 College Leaders to our 2024 College Leaders, Archie, Tom, Hugo and Lucas, with Ms Frizza and Leaders Coordinator, Andrew Beaumont.

The group chatted about their experiences as leaders, the lessons learnt and the journey of progress. Everything was on the table, from insightful tips on inclusive leadership, taking advantage of mentoring opportunities, introducing new initiatives, challenging the status quo, staying connected to friends, asking for help in times of trouble, to working as a team and defining a legacy.

Archie, Tom, Hugo and Lucas share their vision for leadership across 2024.

"Next year I hope to be a welcoming and approachable leader who is visible and present in college life for all staff and students. One of my primary aims is to help foster a stronger relationship between the Junior and Senior schools, promoting collaboration and unity in the college. By being present and available to both the junior and senior school I aim to provide a connection between all students through both initiatives and being involved in activities myself.  Some of the key values that will guide me through leadership are taking on challenges, loyalty, growth and enjoyment, with these in mind I hope that in a year’s time, the other leaders and I have contributed to enabling the college to have a successful year, where everyone feels at home in our community." Archie Lamb, College Captain 2024

"I am honoured to be a 2024 Vice Captain, and will draw on our previous inspirational leaders’ example, whilst further developing my own style.

Engaging in a range of activities such as academics, music, sport and public speaking, have been rewarding and I have developed many valuable friendships through these. Effective communication with students and staff, and being a positive role model by showing respect and acceptance of others are important to me. I believe each person’s individuality is an asset to our Beda community. Inclusion of everyone and their interests enriches our community and is a culture which I will promote. Welcoming and including new students to St Bede’s, at any year level, is an area I will also highlight. I commit to serve with integrity and kindness as part of the leadership team, and will proudly represent the united campuses of our College, for our students, staff, families and the broader community."  Tom Gregory, College Vice-Captain 2024

"At St Bedes every individual’s time is different in its own way, during my own time it has been nothing short of a journey and an experience where I look forward to each school day. I have had the opportunities to explore numerous ACC sports and participate in various public speaking events whilst also achieving academically. Being gifted with the opportunity to lead the school next year, I hope to encourage individuality and uniqueness amongst all students and allow everyone to explore and contribute their own skills and talents to the community we have at St Bedes College. Alongside my fellow leaders, we hope to uphold the path laid out before us by the previous student leadership group. Spreading the “St Bedes” ideology of mateship and resilience, which are in my eyes unique to what we share here at St Bedes, are vital in our roles as leaders next year. I am ecstatic for what 2024 is soon to bring and how we can only elevate what we have here at St Bedes." Hugo Risvanis, College Vice-Captain 2024

"Throughout my 5 years at St Bede’s College, I’ve had the privilege of representing the school in several different areas of school life, from the sporting field to the stage and through my academic performances. As a leader in 2024 I want to be able to help students make the most of the many opportunities our school provides in the hope they can find new interests and passions as I have in my time here. As a member of multiple facets of college life my broad experience will allow me to represent our diverse student body with a deeper understanding of the needs and wants of the students. I’m really looking forward to working alongside my fellow leaders over the coming year and as a group we hope to make 2024 an amazing year!" Lucas Shaw, College Vice-Captain 2024

Above all else, Ms Frizza emphasised the importance of taking time to enjoy the year ahead.

"You've got the chance to lead an amazing school, with amazing people who are all here to support you. You get to define your legacy. Enjoy it."
