LRC News
The LRC have celebrated and recognised a wonderful range of events in 2023.
These include Sorry Day and National Reconciliation Week, Trans Day of Visibility, Valentine’s Day, Harry Potter Week, International Women’s Day, Star Wars Day, the Premier’s Reading Challenge, Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, IDAHOBIT Day, Halloween, Harmony Day, World Poetry Day, as well as the NaNoWriMo writing event.
Three Australian authors visited our school to speak to junior students and held writing workshops. Mandy Ord, Oliver Phommavanh and Martin Chatterton inspired our students to be creative and put pen to paper. There was also a very popular poetry writing competition and the winning entries are included in these pages.
Lastly, Ms Maria Papazoglou, our beloved LRC Leader, retired this year. Maria’s passion for reading and writing transformed the LRC into the heart of our school. She was an inspiration to our students and encouraged them to participate in the many wonderful activities on offer in the library, such as the Premier’s Reading Challenge and countless writing programs. Her vision brought many authors to our school to inspire the next generation of young writers. We wish her all the best in her future endeavours.
