Foundation - Grade 2: Religion

This week, we finished off our Religion topic about the Bible. Students were asked to write a letter of thanks to God about something wonderful in their lives. The Foundation - Grade 2 students wrote the most amazing letters of thanks. Some included thanking God for our family, animals and being there by our side in times of need.

Grade 3 - Grade 6 Religion

Sacred Stories: Students have spent two wonderful lessons learning about the one of the most beautiful books in the Bible. The Book of Psalms. The Psalms are poems, songs, and prayers written thousands of years ago. They express all kinds of feelings—joy, sadness, praise, anger, gratitude, and hope. The children created their own artistic image of Psalm 104: God the Creator and Provider.

Grade 3 - Grade 6 ICU

Why is it important for food and fibre to be produced sustainably?

SOIL EXPERIMENT

As part of our Inquiry Topic ‘Living Off The Land’, the students participated in a soil experiment.  They investigated three different soil samples- clay, loam and sand. Using a flow chart, students discussed the results and explained their choice when deciding the best soil for growing healthy crops.

Science Week

At St Mary’s, science isn’t something we celebrate for just one week a year, it’s an important and ongoing part of our curriculum every term in 2025. Our science program is designed to nurture curiosity, encourage hands-on investigation, and develop critical thinking skills in all year levels. Students are given regular opportunities to explore scientific concepts through engaging experiments, interactive projects, and real-world problem solving activities.

Today, our senior students put their investigative skills to the test with an experiment exploring conductors and insulators. Using different materials, they observed how electricity flows when electrons can move freely through a conductor, and how insulators stop those electrons in their tracks. The excitement in the room was proof that when students are actively involved in their learning, their understanding and enthusiasm grows.

Therapeutic Arts

At the end of Term 2, Mrs Bannan asked the students for feedback on what they would like to create in Therapeutic Arts and we had resounding enthusiasm for creating dioramas. So, it's been a very fun few weeks of creativity and design as we began work on our "My Place" dioramas. Students have enjoyed using a range of materials donated by the very generous Friend/Barns family so we thank them greatly for their generosity. We've also been using some items from the school yard, collecting sand, rocks, leaves and twigs to add to our creations. We look forward to sharing our work with our families when our dioramas are completed.
