Food Security Kitchen Challenge

In this activity Year 12s worked in pairs to prepare a meal for two using limited resources and staple ingredients commonly found in food donation hampers.

The goal of this task is to raise awareness about food insecurity and stimulate creative problem-solving in the kitchen.

For our Unit 1 project, we had to get into pairs and create a bedside table. Since I knew Gurden and Dru somewhat well, I joined their already made pair. Initially, they thought of making a bedside table that can store things, but since we spent too much time fixing the dowel holes inside our legs and wooden supports, we had no choice but to glue the whole top of our lid on instead of creating a moving lid out of it. That's why our table looks like a big rectangular box that has little business being a box. Because we had such big sides on our table, we decided to paint them. We chose one side each, and just let ourself do whatever we wanted to paint on there. Gurden did a tree in a sunset/sunrise, Dru did a lit up light house at night, and I painted a bunch of Marvel symbols/logos. As of right now, we still haven't finished painting the whole thing, despite us already going into Unit 2 and working on another project, but hopefully we will finish it soon.
