Week 1 & 2 Updates
In the first week, students have enjoyed diving into our exciting new Drama unit. We've kicked things off by exploring the main elements of drama, which include:
Through a variety of fun and engaging games, students have begun to understand how these elements come together to create a performance.
It's been wonderful to see students stepping out of their comfort zones, giving new things a go, and most importantly—having fun with their learning! I'm looking forward to continuing this journey and seeing their drama skills grow even more over the coming weeks.
In the second week, we focussed on the element of 'character', where we explored different character traits and what they might look/sound like. Students had a go at creating their own characters and identifying their traits.
Bike Safety
We’re thrilled to see so many students choosing to travel to school by bicycle or scooter—a fantastic choice that supports both environmental sustainability and physical health.
However, it has come to our attention that some students are riding without wearing helmets. This is a serious safety concern, as helmets are essential for protecting against head injuries in the event of a fall or accident.
We kindly remind all families and students that wearing a properly fitted helmet is mandatory when riding to and from school. Ensuring your child wears a helmet not only keeps them safe but also sets a positive example for the entire school community.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us keep all our students safe on their journeys to school.
Grade Prep-2
This term, our students have kicked off their Physical Education program by focusing on fitness and collaborative skills. These foundational activities are designed to build stamina, encourage teamwork, and foster positive peer interactions—essential qualities that support both physical and social development.
As students grow more confident and capable, they are now transitioning into station-based activities that target both fine and gross motor skills. These stations offer a wide variety of challenges that support coordination, strength, balance, and precision—laying the groundwork for skill development across a range of sports.
We are already seeing great progress, and we look forward to continuing this dynamic and engaging journey throughout the term!
Grade 3-6
This term, students have begun their exciting journey into Newcombe and Volleyball as part of our Physical Education program. These dynamic and inclusive sports are excellent for developing hand-eye coordination, teamwork, and strategic thinking.
We’ve started by focusing on fundamental passing skills—including underarm throws, chest passes, and basic volleys—building a strong foundation in technique and control. As students grow more confident and consistent in their passing, we are gradually introducing offensive skills such as setting, serving, and positioning.
This step-by-step approach ensures students develop the key skills needed for success in game situations. As the term progresses, we will transition into modified gameplay, giving students the opportunity to apply what they’ve learned in a team setting.
It's been wonderful to see students encouraging one another and showing great enthusiasm on the court. We look forward to watching their skills and teamwork continue to grow throughout the term!
Swimming Program
Our annual Prep - 2 swimming program begins on the 1st of September and we have made enough spots for every student to attend. Please confirm consent and payment on Compass to ensure your child attends.
We are excited to announce that our annual Prep to Year 2 Swimming Program will commence on Monday, 1st September. This much-loved program is an important part of our physical education curriculum, helping students build water confidence, learn essential swimming skills, and develop safety awareness around water.
We’re pleased to share that there are enough places for every student to attend, and we strongly encourage all families to take up this valuable opportunity.
To ensure your child can participate, please remember to complete the consent and payment via Compass as soon as possible. This helps us with final planning and ensures that all students are fully prepared for their sessions.
Swimming is not only a vital life skill but also a great way for young children to build confidence, resilience, and coordination in a fun, supportive environment. We look forward to seeing our youngest students thrive in the water!
If you have any questions or require assistance with Compass, please contact the school office.
¡¡HOLA!! ¿CÓMO ESTÁIS?
During the first two weeks of this term, we’ve introduced new topics across all year levels, and the response has been really great!
PREPS: We’ve started learning about animals, focusing on our favourite animal. We also did some cognitive processing activities, like colouring a specific number of animals in a specific colour. They’ve done such a great job!
Grades 1–2: We began exploring personal hobbies, learning to say what “me gusta” (I like) and “no me gusta” (I don’t like). Students have really enjoyed sharing their interests in Spanish.
Grades 3–4: We’ve started working on our own Spanish vocabulary booklet, where students collect new vocabulary from each session to review throughout the term. They’re showing focus and enthusiasm!
Grades 5–6: We have started with hobbies too, and practised through mini interviews, talking about likes and dislikes. We’ve also done interactive activities on the screen and had lots of fun playing charades in teams!
¡Ha sido un gran comienzo de trimestre y estoy con muchas ganas de seguir avanzando!
MUCHAS GRACIAS

🌼✨
It's hard to believe how quickly the year is flying by! Once again, it has been such a joy to see students across the school bringing energy, focus, and creativity into the art room. They have jumped straight into Term 3 with enthusiasm, and it’s been wonderful watching them continue to develop their skills, take creative risks, and express themselves through art.
Prep
Our Preps have made a fantastic start to the term, working on beautiful 3D flower creations for our upcoming Art Show. They’ve been learning about a range of flowers and plants found along our local creek, and applying new art techniques to bring their artworks to life. Their focus and effort have been impressive, and we can’t wait to share their stunning results with you!
Year 1/2
Students in Years 1 and 2 have also begun the term with a bright and bold flower project, using fluorescent colours and exploring patterns and shapes found in nature. Through close observation of real leaves and flowers, they’ve discovered how unique each one is and used that understanding to inspire their own imaginative designs. These vibrant artworks are sure to shine at the Art Show!
Years 3–6
In Years 3 to 6, students have started the term with a shared focus on a meaningful Indigenous art project. After wrapping up their amazing fish and bird pieces from last term, they’ve now been learning about Welcome to Country and Acknowledgement of Country, discussing their meanings, their differences, and their importance. We then explored our local area, studying birds-eye view maps over time to observe how the land has changed and what those changes tell us. With this knowledge, students are now beginning to create their own artistic maps, featuring important landmarks and flowing through all of them our Kororoit Creek.
It’s shaping up to be another rich and inspiring term in the art room. I’m so excited to see how students continue to grow, explore, and create in the weeks ahead!
