KT's Art Exhibition

Visual Arts in Kindergarten

The students in Kindergarten have learnt about using different types of media, such as paints, oil pastels, pencils, textas and crayons, to make a variety of artworks. They have experimented with different materials to represent both real and imagined situations. Throughout their visual art lessons, they have looked at and discussed artworks produced by a variety of artists. Kindergarten students have also learnt that visual arts can be explored through many different subject areas at school. We hope you enjoy looking at some of the pieces we have created over the year.

Handprints and Patterns

During this experience, the students in KT looked at their hands and discussed how everyone’s hands and fingerprints are different. They used handprints to develop their imaginative art work and explored using patterns that repeated, overlapped or changed direction. They also discussed how Aboriginal artists used hand stencils in their artworks - on canvas and in rock paintings.

NAIDOC Art

In recognition of NAIDOC Week, KT used traditional Aboriginal colours to create an overlapping background to enhance the image of an Australian animal of their choice. Students reflected on the importance and meaning of the colours used in their artwork.

Emotions

During our Personal Development and Health lessons we discussed how people have different thoughts, feelings and responses to a variety of situations. In this artwork the students explored the use of lines, oil pastels and watercolour to design their background. The emoji they chose reflected how they were feeling at that moment.
