Camps & Excursions
On the 2nd of September, our outdoor education class packed up and headed to Torquay for three days of exploring, learning and putting our outdoor skills to the test. From beaches and rock climbing to cooking dinner on a Trangia, camp gave us the chance to experience the coastal environment far beyond the classroom.
Our first day began at Point Impossible, where we explored the beach before setting up camp and getting settled in. We then followed the coastline, learning about the history of Torquay and the way people have interacted with the area over time. By the evening, it was time to put our cooking skills to work. Using Trangias, we prepared dinner before finishing the night with a walk along the beach.
The second day was filled with some of the most exciting parts of the camp. After cooking breakfast, we headed out for rock climbing, giving everyone the chance to challenge themselves and try something different. We also had some time to explore Torquay, grab some food and visit the local shops. As the day came to an end, we took a sunset walk along the coast before returning to camp for dinner and another night under the stars.
Unfortunately, the final morning meant packing everything back up and saying goodbye to the campsite. Before heading home, we visited the Australian National Surfing Museum, learning about Torquay's strong connection to Australian surfing culture. After three busy days, we headed back home tired but with plenty of memories and new experiences.

Year 11 Sociology Excursion
Our Year 11 Sociology students took their learning beyond the classroom with an exciting day exploring crime, deviance and social control in Melbourne.
Students began at the Old Melbourne Gaol, participating in the Crime and Punishment program before heading into the CBD to conduct their own fieldwork investigation, applying their sociological knowledge to the world around them.
It was fantastic to see students so engaged throughout the day and representing our school so positively. Their behaviour, participation and enthusiasm were outstanding!
Year 11 Modern History Excursion
Stepping into the past, our Year 11 Modern History students spent the day exploring Australia's involvement in the Vietnam War and the ways this history has been remembered.
Students began at the Shrine of Remembrance, participating in the Remembering the Vietnam Era program before continuing their historical investigation through central Melbourne, exploring memorials and significant sites.
It was wonderful to see students engaged with the history around them and making connections between their classroom learning and the world outside it. We were incredibly proud of their behaviour, participation and enthusiasm throughout the day!
Year 11 Legal Studies Excursion
The two Year 11 classes got an opportunity to attend the Supreme Court of Victoria (Trial Division) in August. The classes got to go on different days and have a guided tour through the courts, participate in a Q and A with a Justice (with the help of their associates), and witness real-life criminal cases as they were being heard on the day. One class got to witness the preliminary discussion of evidence and what to show the jury for the empanelment of a Murder trial, whereas the other class had the opportunity to see the case from the very beginning, with live testimonies from witnesses to the case! It was an amazing day where the students got to put their learning into understanding a criminal and civil court setting.
