Transition

Planning for 2027 has been a key priority, with the Transition and Course Counselling processes now completed.

Throughout the transition period, the Pathways team has worked closely with students and families through a combination of evening sessions and in-school conversations. This has provided opportunities for students to meet with our team, explore their subject options and make informed decisions about their Senior School pathways.

Our team has supported students transitioning into Year 11, as well as those continuing into Year 12, with a particular focus on ensuring programs remain appropriate and aligned with each student’s individual goals and aspirations. This has included reviewing existing programs, making subject changes where required and exploring opportunities for students to extend their studies through additional subjects.

These processes have provided an important opportunity to work closely with students and families and ensure that subject selections and pathways are aligned with individual goals, interests and future aspirations.

As we now move into planning for the Year 10 Statewide Transition Day in December, we look forward to welcoming and meeting our 2027 Year 10 cohort for the first time and beginning the next stage of their transition into Senior School.

Pathways

Term 3 has been a busy term in the land of pathways. Every year 12 student has undertaken their 2nd Year 12 Conversation to ensure that once they leave Homestead, they know exactly what comes next. Conversations around VTAC, university and TAFE options as well as GAP year options have been hot topics. What has been pleasing to see is how invested each student has been with their own individual pathway. Congratulations to all Year 12 students and good luck with the upcoming exams. Remember, VTAC’s application Fee rises from $83 to $166 on the 28th of September at 5pm, so please ensure that you get your applications in ASAP.

Along with conversations, Term 3 has been the season of University and TAFE visits. With 10 institutions having visited the college and over 300 students attending, it has been a huge success, giving students the opportunity to engage with places that may end up being part of their future pathway. Well done to all students who have attended.
