MUSICA E TEATRO

Performing Arts

Prima di tutto, thank you to all those people who booked in a session with me during Parent/Student conferences. It really filled my cup to see students from across the whole school displaying their love of Performing Arts and enjoying the opportunity to share their knowledge with their parents and caregivers. From Foundation up to Grade 6 students were proud to share their drumming skills, their favourite ukulele song or even our parachute routine. It also gave me valuable feedback about what students are enjoying the most!

Foundation and Grade 1/2

At the moment, Foundation students are learning to play the floordrum. Each student has their own drum to play and we have been imagining being nella giungla and the sounds that might represent these animals on the floordrum.

Nella giungla c’è:

Un elefante

Una rana

Una farfalla

Un orangotango

This activity supports students to build their patience, their manual dexterity as they play piano and forte, embodied learning and increased recall of Italian words as they build their familiarity with the drum pattern and the name of the animale.

For example, we repeat together:

Nella giungla c’è…un elefante!

Then we play the drum together: 🖐️🤚🖐️🤚🖐️🤚🖐️🤚 STOP!

AT HOME:

You might like to ask your child about these animali and what the drum beats sound like!
