Celebrating all things Italian!
Term 3 has gifted us with many memorable Italian highlights we are proud of.
Year 3/4 Melbourne Museum (Rome Exhibition) Excursion
It’s always a pleasure when a child walks through the school gates after an excursion and says, “Thank you, Nancy, for organising this excursion.” Moments like these remind me just how meaningful these experiences are for our students.
What a privilege it was to accompany our Year 3/4 students, teaching team and ES to the ROME: Empire, Power, People exhibition at the Melbourne Museum on Tuesday 11 August.
This exciting learning experience provided our students with the opportunity to step back in time and explore the fascinating world of Ancient Rome, making meaningful connections with our Italian language and cultural learning. From ancient artefacts and stories of Roman life to exploring the power, people and legacy of the Roman Empire, the exhibition brought history to life in such a memorable way.
A special grazie mille to our wonderful CO.AS.IT Italian Language Assistants, who supported our students throughout the guided tour and helped bring the exhibition to life through Italian language and engaging conversations.
It was wonderful to see our students’ curiosity, enthusiasm and sense of wonder shine through as they explored, questioned and discovered. These are the moments that learning truly comes alive!
Pranzo Italiano Classe - AgostoOn Monday 31st August, our Amici Insieme Groups 18, 19 and 20 enjoyed preparing and sharing panini. Students worked collaboratively, practised their Italian and embraced the joy of cooking and eating together. It was wonderful to see students across year levels supporting one another while celebrating Italian language and culture.

Throughout the experience, our Year 5/6 students demonstrated confidence, teamwork and leadership as they shared their knowledge of the Italian language, food and culture with our younger students. It was wonderful to see them take such pride in their learning and embrace their roles as young Italian ambassadors.
A heartfelt grazie mille to our wonderful parent volunteers, Oliver (Arabella and Pernille’s dad), Elena (Boris’ mum) and Bea (Rocco and Cosma’s mum), and our supportive Italian Language Assistants, Martina and Lucrezia, whose enthusiasm and love of Italian language, culture and cuisine helped make the event such a memorable experience for our students.
Our finalPranzo Italiano Classe for Term 3 will be held this comingMonday 14th September. Your child will be advised of their Pranzo Italiano Classe session on the day of their Classe by their teachers.
Il Globo Talk Show
It was wonderful to see the leadership skills of our Year 5 students Safi, Giorgia, Bauti, Siena and Lucia showcased as they spoke to the current Year 3/4 students about representing BSPS in the 2025 Il Globo Talk Show.
The students proudly shared their experiences of the Talk Show, reflecting on what they learned, the challenges they encountered and, most importantly, why they felt so proud to represent Brunswick South Primary School. Their confidence, enthusiasm and genuine sense of school pride were truly inspiring.
In bocca al lupo to the twelve Year 3/4 students who will be participating in this year’s Il Globo Talk Show on Friday 11 September. The recording will take place at the Il Globo Newspaper/Studios, led by renowned Italian journalist Barbara Manzini.
A very special grazie di cuore to Lucrezia for sharing her love of the Italian language with our Year 3/4 students and supporting them as they prepare for this exciting opportunity. In bocca al lupo a tutte e a tutti!

Piccole Voci Geniali 2026
BSPS Coro Italiano Performance
On Sunday 18 October at 11:30am, we will proudly celebrate the dedication and hard work of our BSPS Coro Italiano as they take to the stage at the Italian Festa & Expo.
Our talented young singers will be performing as part of the Piccole Voci Geniali Choir Event, proudly organised by CO.AS.IT at the Melbourne Exhibition Building.
We would love to see our BSPS families, parents and carers there to cheer on our students and support them as they share their love of Italian language, music and culture on stage!
Entry is free, so come along and support our BSPS Coro Italiano!
La Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo (October 19th-25th)La Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo is an annual celebration held in October to promote and celebrate Italian language and culture globally. This year, the 26th Week of the Italian Language in the World will be held from October 19 to 25. This year’s theme is: “Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano– Brilliant language: designing, planning, creating with Italian”. At Brunswick South Primary School, this is embedded in our learning every day and we take pride in being part of this global celebration dedicated to preserving Italian language education and culture.

Premio in Classe Competition
I am pleased to share the fourth edition of IL GLOBO Premio In Classe, a competition for primary and high school students of Italian, exploring the theme of La Settimana della Lingua Italiana nel Mondo (The Week of the Italian Language in the World 19/10/26-25/10/26) This year’s theme is: “Lingua geniale: ideare, progettare, creare con l’italiano– Brilliant language: designing, planning, creating with Italian”. This theme is reflected in our school motto: Imparare Insieme, Creare Insieme, Vivere Insieme.
Primary school students from Foundation to Year 6 are invited to present a collage accompanied by some words or sentences in Italian exploring the topic.
You can find full details on how to enter the competition, along with suggested activities, ideas, and resources here.
The deadline for entries is 12:00am on Thursday, October 15th. Prizes will be awarded, and all participants will receive a certificate.
We encourage you to share this wonderful opportunity with your child and we look forward to seeing where your students’ creativity will lead!
