Team Leaders Message
Term 3 has been filled with growth, creativity, and memorable experiences for our Secondary 9/10 section.
Renae, our Speech Therapist has helped to guide our teachers and students through the 'Imagine Create Belong' program which has been nothing short of amazing! From crafting characters and settings to tackling problems and solutions, our students ventured into narrative genre like never before. The cherry on top? They transformed these stories into engaging movies! The primary goal of this program was to enhance students' abilities in responding to and understanding social situations and we're thrilled with the progress we've witnessed.
Yesterday, students held Market Day which was a spectacular event! Each class put in lots of effort to organise unique stalls. From mini marts to fairy floss, a sizzling barbecue to a lively music festival, a cinematic experience to a nostalgic old-school arcade. The students have been learning invaluable life skills through our 'Earn and Learn' program where they earn rewards, bonuses, and even face fines, teaching them important lessons in budgeting and financial responsibility.
We couldn't be prouder of our talented dancers who graced the stage at the 'John Cain Arena' on September 9th for the Victorian State School Spectacular. These dedicated students have been rehearsing tirelessly throughout the year, and their hard work and enthusiasm shone through on the day and they were amazing!
This term, we said farewell to Chris Malane as he embarks on a new journey as an Assistant Principal. His contributions to teaching and learning at Concord have been invaluable and he will be missed. However, we're thrilled to welcome Kylie Weisheit into the role for the remainder of the year. We also extend a warm welcome to Eleanor Blaney, who joined our team in Secondary 9/10G. Her extensive special education experience will undoubtedly enrich our students' learning journeys.
Our Occupational Therapist, Jonathon, has been hard at work, guiding groups of students in exploring the fascinating concept of Interoception. This vital skill helps us become more aware of internal sensations in our bodies, including heart rate, respiration, hunger, and emotions. Jonathon's efforts are helping our students gain a deeper understanding of themselves, empowering them to better navigate their needs and emotions.
Wishing you all a relaxing spring holiday and a fantastic start to Term 4!
