Principals Report

Ms Stephanie Scott

Welcome to our week 6 newsletter! It's hard to believe that we're more than halfway through the term - although the weather is certainly already looking like Spring!

I hope you enjoy our Ekka feature in this edition, there are some great photos! It really was an incredible experience to attend - even the driving in Brisbane traffic and the very, very early morning starts! I attended more as a mum figure, rather than principal, and I was so impressed with every aspect of Mr Jones and Mrs Parkers organisation as well as the behaviour, teamwork and maturity of all the students. Mr Jone's cooking and meal preparation was impressive as was his ability to run into people he knew on the Brisbane ferry!

This week we again welcomed Yr 6 to our school for another fantastic transition visit and prior to this we held our yr 6 parent information night. A big thank you to the staff at THS and our primary schools and especially Mrs Koch, for all the work that goes into the transition process. If you know of anyone who was unable to attend the information night, please encourage them to contact the school and we can organise a tour and information package.

One of the many great advantages of working in a small school and community is the ability to form relationships with our primary schools and start to get to know students before they come to high school. Not only am I getting to know the Yr 6 students from their visits, but I have also been lucky enough to be invited to TSHPMPS to adjudicate public speaking and debating this year (see story inside) where I have been very impressed with the high standard! There are also many opportunities for THS students to help with carnivals and refereeing at the primary schools as well as all schools joining together for Naodic celebrations and other community events.

Finally, the end of Term 3 is notoriously a very busy time! I encourage you to look carefully at the calendar in this edition as well as follow Facebook, for dates and information on Term 3 formal assembly and school leadership induction, Yr 10 subject selection interviews, Naidoc celebrations and Yr 12 graduation assembly.
