Catholic Identity

Catholic Identity

Students across each level are learning about Who Jesus was and Why his teachings are important. The senior students, in particular, are learning about the First Australian Catholics and the founders of our educational system. Our identity as a Catholic School is an integral component of the education provided at St. Mary’s. The Religious dimension is intrinsic to our culture and traditions, contributing to the overall formation of our students; A holistic and spiritual, faith based approach to learning. Our six Graduate Outcomes are based on the Gospel values and guide our words and actions in our school community.

When we go to meet or greet with a smile and acknowledge others in inclusivity.

When we offer to help or assist in initiatives and events in service.

When we encourage and support others in celebration.

When we work together in partnership to achieve the best learning outcomes for the people in our care, transforming them as individuals.

When we speak with grace and from a place of kindness and respect.

When we have the courage to restore right relationships through restorative practices, to reach out with courage to show forgiveness, empathy and compassion. The ‘glimmers’ are evident if we continue to look for the good and God’s presence.

Prayer

Loving God,

We ask that you guide us each day to remember our Gospel Values found in our Graduate Outcomes,

Help us when we lose our way of being, your way.

Help us through your Holy Spirit, to enact the gifts in each of us,

Empower us with your love.

Excite us when we see and feel the glimmers of your goodness and kindness,

Engage us in doing your work - being the light, the light and hope of Jesus for others today.

Amen

St. Mary’s Students Making their Sacraments this Weekend

We congratulate the St. Mary’s students and will acknowledge them publicly again at next week’s Whole School Assembly. Our Students have been preparing to make the Sacraments of Confirmation - confirming their Baptismal promises and the Sacrament of Eucharist - accepting their first Holy Communion in the bread and wine offered at Mass. The students will be celebrating their growth in Faith and the Sacramental journey they have been on since February. We wish them a joyful Sacramental experience and please keep our St. Mary’s Students in your prayers.

Reconciliation Ceremony

Today at St. Mary’s Primary, Fr. Novie generously offered a Reconcilition Ceremony to some of our Year Six students. The Year Two students were able to witness the Sacrament as part of their learning. The Sacrament is one penance, where participants can reach out to God and ask for his love and forgiveness. We congratulate Maddie Van Poeteren, Jackson Arnel and Shewan Silva. Thank you to their parents who were able to be present and share in this special occasion.
