Principal's Report

Dear Parents,

There is only 2 weeks to go before the September holidays. The time does just fly by, doesn’t it? A quick reminder that we will finish at 2:30pm on the last day of term which is the 15th September.

Footy Tipping Champions

Well, the fight for our 2023 footy tipping champions is over. In a tight run race our Parent/Staff champion is Libby Potter who is one of our super office staff, she just beat Phil Gardner who stumbled at the last minute. Better luck next year Phil!

Our student winner is Max Darwall, a first-time winner but his brother Oscar has won in the past as has his mum Cassie, what a family!

Flick beat me which proves I know nothing about football as Flick picks her teams on which mascot would win in a fight?  Who wins out of a Magpie and a Demon Flick? Or a Captain Carlton Vs a Swan?

Caufield Grammar Junior School Singing Day

We had an incursion from Caufield Grammar music students and teachers on Friday. Our junior school learnt to sing four songs through the day and then performed them at assembly.

I was amazed at what our students produced in such a short time. Thanks to the Caufield Grammar team who did such a brilliant job on the day. The year nine students represented their school beautifully. I did a quick survey with students and the overwhelming majority said they really enjoyed the program.

We hope to book this in again next year.

Parent/Student/Teacher three-way conferences

During week 10 (last week of term) we will be holding our parent/teacher interviews. You will be notified via compass when they are open. Please make sure you book your interview through the compass app.

Prep D will run their interviews early because Bonnie is about to go on Maternity leave.

Bonnie McKercher

Bonnie will be leaving us next week to go on maternity leave and have her first baby.  We will miss Bonnie greatly but I’m sure you will join with me in wishing her all the very best as Bonnie and her husband embark on such a wonderful, exciting time.

Bonnie will be replaced by Tess Fraser who has been working in our before and after school care. The students already know Tess as she has had many days working in the grade. We wish Tess all the best as she begins her teaching career in just the right place.

Jeannette Nortcliffe

Our chaplain Jeannette has found the travel from Ferntree Gully to Woori Yallock too arduous and therefore she has decided to find a position closer to home. Strangely enough she has found that position at Marlborough Primary School where Katherine Bolton is currently Acting Principal. Last week Jeannette was able to say goodbye to the staff and the students. We wish Jeannette every happiness and thank her for all the great work she did here at WYPS.

We will be hiring a new chaplain for our school. The successful candidate will start at the beginning of Term 4.

I am sorry if your child comes home to tell you that I keep playing the Carlton F.C. theme song. It’s true, I have been doing that after a win and we did win nine in a row. Unfortunately, the Blues lost on the weekend. But look out Sydney in the elimination final, surely it will be a huge win to the mighty Blues.

Have a great week!

And remember when life gets a little difficult, escape to the wonderful world of a book!
