Primary Community News

Foundation (Prep-Year 2)

The Foundations students have been learning all about weather. They have been reading books that explore different types of weather, such as rainy, sunny, windy and snowy. They’ve also been learning the AUSLAN sign to go with these. Students have taken part in creating their own weather stations in their classrooms where they get to be the ‘news broadcaster’. In numeracy they have been exploring additions and subtraction through the use of games such as ‘play dough smash’ and ‘Get off my boat’. The 1/2s have completed learning about Social Circles and are now moving towards expressing when they need space. We are looking forward to learning about the different seasons as we continue our inquiry this term.

Lower Primary (Years 3-4)

In our 3/4 classrooms, we had an exciting and well-rounded learning experience.

In our Inquiry sessions, we delved into the world of sound, uncovering its sources and even creating our own musical instruments like guitars, drums, and maracas. It was a lot of fun, and our classrooms were filled with joyous sounds.

For Literacy, our imaginations took flight as we began crafting imaginative stories featuring characters with musical instruments. Alongside that, we honed our summarization skills through 'Possum Magic' during Reading time.

In Numeracy, hands-on activities were the highlight, guiding us through interpreting data, as well as the exciting world of addition and subtraction. Our learning journey was both educational and enjoyable.

Upper Primary (Years 5-6)

Upper Primary students enjoyed their hands-on toy incursion last Thursday. They investigated a variety of push, pull and rotating toys. Students made their own toy which used all three elements, push, pull and rotation. They took their toy home. The children thoroughly enjoyed their incursion!
